Every night in the United States an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. This October, Boulder Valley Church of Christ (BVCC) and Kid President want 1 million people to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless here in Boulder. And we are inviting You to join us!!
What is Socktober? Socktober was launched by Kid President four years ago. It’s a movement to get kids and grown-ups to help the homeless in an easy, fun way. For the month of October BVCC will be collecting Long tube Socks for the homeless here in Boulder. (Socks + October = Socktober) Click HERE to see a YouTube video of Kid Presidents explanation of Socktober!
How can you and Suzuki Strings help? Please consider picking up some new long tube socks between now and Nov. 12th and drop them off here at BVCC in the marked tub in the foyer. We will make sure that they get deliveredto the Boulder County Cares homeless shelter to help those in need.
Face to Face Delivering: One of our Goals at the BVCC is to seek out opportunities to serve people "Face to Face". With this goal in mind we will planning a day in which Socktober volunteers can go around town handing out a portion of the socks to those in need and spending several minutes in "Face to Face" conversation. If you have any interest in helping out with this event you can contact Rob Duncan @ @ email@example.com or text “socks” to 303-767-BVCC (2822)
How did Socktober 2016 go? Last year BVCC collected more than 2,800 pairs of socks for the Boulder County Cares homeless shelter. And with the help of our commUNITY we hope to collect even more this year. Internationally, more than 10,000 schools, families, businesses, and churches around the country rallied together to bring Socktober to life. People from every state and continent have taken part in Socktober! And it is estimated that overall there were over 1 million people involved in one way or another.
