The BVCC leadership would like to hear your thoughts on this potential partnership. Please consider sharing your constructive thoughts and or concerns with us sooner than later. The church leadership is very aware of the fact there are those in the congregation who might have ideas or questions that we have not thought of yet and we would love for you to share them with us.
Q - Is this going to cost BVCC any funds?
A - No. Promise Preschool is prepared to do upgrades, improvements & construction in our building with absolutely no cost to us. Some of the improvements that they would be providing are: Brand new playground equipment for the West part of the church building, new sandbox. A new fence around the playground, new flooring and carpet, new paint and additional hand washing sinks. There is a chance that we may try and partner with them and help with some cost that might include upgrading our potentially new Nursery room.
Q - Is this going to interfere with any of BVCC events or scheduling?
A - No. The preschool does not meet during the summer and their times of operation are M-F from 9 to 11:30am
Q- Would we be providing a space to them for free?
A – No. The preschool would be renting the space from us for $1,000 a month. For more in-depth details on this please email us at email@example.com and ask for a copy of the MOA.
Q - Can BVCC legally “rent” space to a Preschool and not be in danger of losing our tax-exempt status?
A – Yes. They have been renting space from their previous church for the past 25 years with no repercussions to that church.
Dear Boulder Valley Family –
The Eldership of BVCC is excited to announce that we have recently been approached with a potential partnership opportunity from Promise Preschool (www.promisechristianpreschool.org). Promise Preschool has been in existence since 1992 and is now looking for a new church to partner with. For the past 25 years, they have been working with a church off of 287 and 95th. That church however has recently closed their doors and sold their property to a housing development group.
Promise Preschool draws most of their families from around the Boulder Valley area and are hoping and praying to continue their ministry in that general location starting up next Sept. With this in mind they found out about BVCC online and contacted us to see if we would be willing to talk with them and consider joining them in their ministry to the families of preschoolers.
Several weeks ago, the Eldership and church staff (along with Janet Pierce – who has been a preschool teacher for over 35 years) sat down with Julie Back and Becky Kinney (the chair and director) to ask questions and find out more about who they are and how they function. (If you would like to see the list of questions that we asked please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org )
After this meeting the Eldership felt as if we should pursue the possibility of partnering with PP. The reasons for this are that we believe that this idea fits within our Purpose statement, and that we believe it's a good opportunity for the BVCC to connect more with our community and support a ministry that is looking for a home. One of the elders also brought up that in the past the BVCC church has often talked about and dreamed about the possibility of starting our own preschool. And perhaps this is our opportunity to do so.
After several group and personal meetings with the church staff, children’s ministry coordinators and the Building Ministry Committee we have decided that we would like to continue to pursue the possibility of partnering in ministry with Promise Christian Preschool. Please note… the Eldership is not saying that this is a done deal but that we want to pursue the possibility of partnering with them.
Where Would They Set Up?
If all works out with Promise Preschool they would obviously be needing to use a portion of our facility. The church leadership has spent time talking with the fire department, Boulder County Safety Inspection folk, and local contractors and conclude that we will be working toward taking our current Nursery and room 11 (our playground room) and turning it into the new location for the Promise Christian Preschool area. We are considering moving our current nursery to room 10 and then sharing the newly extended room 11 with Promise Christian Preschool as our new preschool room on Sunday mornings.
